Popcorn Blossoms

By definition, today I am the older gentlemen who reads a book, wears the dark grey suit with a matching hat, he sits on a chair and smiles at strangers as he asks them what floor they need to go to. He ushers them in mentioning the weather, swipes his card and pushes a button, he steps out of the elevator and watches the doors close. He sits on his char, opens his book and waits for the next stranger who needs him!

Today I am "elevator girl"!

The thing is I get to experience the person. Some drink their coffee and focus on their iPhones others smile and ask me what my name is. I like people!

People are a species of their own. Some are interactive, they make you feel important for two minutes as they ride up the elevator. Some people want to be important. I used to be afraid of the people who never show their teeth, you know the ones, they hide from your eyes, as if you aren't there. They're so afraid that if we lock eyes I might start singing or worse I might say hello. The thing is, they can't hide from me! I will find them and I will at least say hi! I will bless their sneezes and I will talk about how much I love the popcorn popping on every tree outside followed by the story of my youth and how I thought it really was popcorn!

I hope people think it's nice to know if I see you I'll ask you random questions or if you're lucky I'll compliment your watch or your shoes because I think they're cute!

I'll do this not to annoy you, but to interact with you! It's what I was taught and it has taken me 23 years to embrace it.

I learned it this from my dad. He talks to everyone. It doesn't matter who you are. You could be a Golden Globe winner or a farmer from the south, no matter what he will still talk to you because you are worth it!

Along time ago I used to rely on others to talk to me and then one day decided I could't wait around!

Love love love,
Krystal Dey

P.S. Next time your in an elevator say hello!

Song Sunday

City and Colour "The Girl"

While I'm off chasing my own dreams,
Sailing around the world,
Please know that I'm yours to keep,
My Beautiful Girl.

When you cry a piece of my heart dies,
Knowing that I may have been the cause.
If you were to leave,
Fulfill someone else's dreams,
I think I might be totally lost.

Love Love Love,
Krystal Dey

P.S. The music video is really good too!

Put up a Parking Lot

I drove to school 45-minutes early today. I was late to a meeting so I took to the paid parking lot. I had 15-minutes! I ran. I met. I left. I didn't have to pay. I headed to student parking. I waited. I cleaned my dashboard. I made some phone calls. It was ten to the hour, students were coming. I was ready. I missed one spot. I missed another spot. There were 20 people trying to park at that very moment. I drove around. I wasn't in my game. Usually I stalk, I prowl, I fight! Not today. I missed every single spot. I knew if I drove to the faraway lot I could be in class already.

I drove around a few more times. I notice this girl driving a little blue truck. I have passed her over and over because she has just stayed in the one spot. She hasn't moved. I leave. I park in the faraway lot. I am okay with this because I planned on listening to my new playlist, I am wearing my pleather jacket and I will feel like I own the world if I listen to my new tunes as I walk to class.

I park. I remember my headphones are plugged into my other iPod I went running with last night. Suck!

I walk. The sun is out. I am 25-minutes late to class. The birds chirp. I make it to the parking lot I was in before. I see the girl in the little blue truck in the same place. I walk past the prime parking spot. I see a familiar face. He is leaving "the" spot. That is my dream spot. I tell him I wanted to park there. He asks if I want to go get my car. I tell him no. As I walk away I point to the little blue truck and I tell him to give it to her, she's been waiting a long time!

To be a Lady

What is it like to be a lady? I dunno. I talk while I'm chewing and I don't hold my pinkies up when I'm drinking tea.

I don't like making crafts. It gives me ulcers thinking about it. I will edit a movie for hours a day, that is my craft. But give me a glue-gun and something frilly and I am a complete mess. Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean I have to craft.

I just went to my best friend's wedding. We had a fancy dinner. I sat by her roommates, you know at the "single" table. There were 3 forks, a knife, and a spoon. I started eating with the fork on the left. They looked at me and said, "What fork am I supposed to eat with, the top one?"
At that moment I knew I was a lady! Thank you Grandma Eunice!

Krystal Dey

P.S. I guess I am versatile. I can eat a corn of cob on a haystack in jeans or I can eat with a salad fork at a 5-course meal with celebrities. I would familiarize yourself with the table setting below because one day you might be at dinner with Jason Alexander and you won't know what fork to eat with.
P.S.S. The other day someone told me one day I will make a really good "soccer mom" and I almost fainted. What in the world? Why would you say that? I will never, ever, ever have a soccer mom weak butt camera.

Fun Sucker

Who peed in your Cheerios?
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed!
Pull the stick out of your ass.
Fun SUCKER!

After some self-realization, I have realized that lately I have been a total FUN SUCKER

I tend to have a split personality. Part of me is a perfectionist/must always be busy young lady and the other part is extremely fun/doesn't care about responsibility or doing things right. Inside my head they have little fights like, "Don't worry about it, just dance or something, k?"and the other one, " No! you must show them you are on top of it, you must spend five more hours perfecting it."

For instance, on my Mac (yes, I am a name dropper) I have a list of a thousand things to do. They hang over my head like a cloud and they are all stupid like:
  • Wash your car
  • Fix your blog
  • Hang up pictures in your room
  • Learn how to draw
  • You're a rock star!

I just deleted them. Part of me is freaking out right now. The other part is relieved! Another example of my weird and amazing personality, a few paragraphs ahead I said ass. The fun/who doesn't give a crap is saying, "sometimes you swear, it is what it is." The perfectionist in me is saying, "20 years from now your kids are going to be reading this, people will judge you fool." Who bloody cares?

The proof is in my blog. If you scroll down a few pages you'll realize my blog used to be hilarious. Now all I write about is blah blah blah! Have some freaking fun! You don't have to be perfect in everything you do, and it's funny when you swear, just like little Krystal. (side note: when I was little I had a mouth of a sailor.)

I am highly involved in school with student government and the broadcasting department. I have a lot on my plate. I am also a sister, a friend, and an active member of the LDS church. I am busy. I like to be busy, but when I get too busy I forget to have 5-second dance parties.

....And I am lame! Krystal is back. Also, the soundtrack of this blog is from the movie "Easy A". Which is a coincidence because the movie is about a vlog, this is a blog, and yeah, that is basically all we have in common.

Listen world, you don't always have to be profound, and you don't have to always eat 4 fruits and vegetables everyday, and you don't have to work-out 2 hours a day. It's okay to not do your laundry and it is completely productive to watch hours of stupid movies that don't have plot points.

Love Love Love,
Krystal Dey

P.S. Watch "Easy A", it's about a girl who loses who she is and she finds her way back being better than ever.

P.S.S. Have a 5-second dance party RIGHT NOW!!!!

And I just did !!!! exclamation points, when I was in high school my English teacher told me to never do more than 1. Oops, too bad!

Disgusting

I still haven't unpacked from Christmas break, I did do my laundry and it is currently in a basket at the end of my bed. I have a pile of dirty clothes in my closet on top of my shoes. My nightstand is covered in cough drops. I have books and drives scattered across my floor along with a semesters worth of paper. My guitar is the corner of my room next to my long board, both collecting dust.

Where am I you might ask? I am in my bed. Instead of cleaning my room I decided to write a blog. Here's the thing my fellow blogwers, I started blogging because I had to for a scriptwriting class. I kept it up because for some reason I thought you all liked what I wrote. But those words are just words and I cheated on those words. I have 2 other blogs. I recently started a health blog, One day I will be able to share it.

My blog used to be hilarious. Then it was pure inspiration and motivation, now it's disgusting, like my room!

Love Love Love,
Krystal Dey

P.S. Enjoy the new year!
